Q2: LOTF thesis

Lord of the Flies portrays Jack and Ralph to have an intense relationship that includes them feuding for power. It is the attitude of Jack that allows for Ralph to be able to stand up at the end of the book and claim the power as his to the navel officer. Page 201 "Who's boss here?" "I am," said Ralph loudly. This textual evidence supports my thesis because my thesis is studying further into the relationship between Jack and Ralph and the stand Ralph takes at the end of the book to make a point towards Jack. Whenever it says "said Ralph loudly" it emphasizes the tone of voice he was using. This could be directed at Jack showing who is greater, or it could be because of the burning flames around them.

Q2: Thanksgiving Break

Over the break, I went to Destin for the beginning of the week.  I celebrated my birthday on Sunday the 19th and went to dinner with my friends and family. I really enjoyed the beach because it was a peaceful setting that allowed me to relax and take a break. The weather was cold and windy but during the day when the sun was out, the beach was enjoyable. The water was calm but freezing. Then, I went to Alabama. We had thanksgiving dinner here.  It was really good and I got to spend time with my friends and family I normally don't get to see. We got to eat all the foods that we eat only once a year and look forward to. Also, I went shopping on Friday with my friends and cousins. It was really crowded and I'm not sure if I will do it again.

Q2: Week 5 LOTF Response

[Piggy:] "I don't agree with all Jack said, but with some.  'Course there isn't a beast in the forest.  How could there be?  What would a beast eat?" "Pig." "We eat pig." "Piggy!" "I got the conch!" said Piggy indignantly.  "Ralph--they ought to shut up, oughtn't they?  You shut up, you littluns!  What I mean is that I don't agree about this here fear.  Of course there isn't nothing to be afraid of in the forest.  Why--I been there myself!  You'll be talking about ghosts and such things next.  We know what goes on and if there's something wrong, there's someone to put it right." He took off his glasses and blinked at them.  The sun had gone as if the light had been turned off. [...] "Life," said Piggy expansively, "is scientific, that's what it is.  In a year or two when the war's over they'll be traveling to Mars and back.  I know there isn't no beast--n

Q2: Week 5 Symbolism

As everyone is sitting on the beach, there is a different feeling in the air for me. The sun is shining and the water is blue, and there are the usual sounds of chatter and laughter along the shoreline. I am nervous and anxious, yet I can't figure out why. Maybe it is the hanging purple and red flags at the state park along the beach making me nervous. I notice this right as I am about to go into the ocean to cool off. The winds are so strong one of the flags blew away and lands in the ocean a few feet away from me. Then, as I look down the beach , I see a lady spelling out something in the sand with red rose petals. This makes me smile and I forget about how hot I am and decide to take a walk down the beach to get a closer look. Walking down the beach I hear screams from both directions. Sounds of excitement and celebration on the beach from one direction and sounds of fear and horror from the water from the other direction.  purple and red flag- danger red rose petals-

Q2: Week 4 LOTF

In reading  Lord of the Flies , I have noticed many interesting aspects of the book. One of these is that the author does not tell its readers who is talking. This can be a problem in getting the characteristics of certain characters confused. For example, when we were trying to figure out which characters believed in the beast and which ones didn't and the characters specific thoughts on the beast this led to some confusion. It was a problem identifying which character said which line because what each character said revealed a lot about them and their character traits. Also, as I have continued to read Lord of the Flies, I have noticed the true personalities of each character. Also, I have noticed how the character and their personality traits have evolved over the course of the book. I feel like the readers have really seen Jack's personality better as we read further into the book. I would describe Jack's personality as being quick to anger.

Q2: Week 4 Vocabulary Free Post

As the plane started ascending into the air, my sister and I got very excited. We looked out of the window and watched as the buildings and cars became smaller and smaller and less visible. My family and I were just miles away from the happiest place on Earth, Walt Disney World, and we could not wait. This was the first time my sister and I were going to go to Disney and we were very excited. We were about five years old. Although, as the plane ride continued, we had some unexpected weather. The robust winds were causing a rough flight. The next day, it was sunny so my family and I proceeded to Disney World. My sister and I could see so many rides that we knew we already would want to ride. Also, on our way in we saw so many characters we just had to stop and take our picture with. As soon as we reached our first ride, we waited in line. My sister and I could just not understand why we had to wait and thought it was very unfair. Although, as soon as we reached the front of the line
