Grace S- Dialogue Ellie S- Dialogue: If My Dog Could Talk

Q1: Week 5 reading response

My personal narrative is going good so far. I am having a little bit of a difficult time using good vivid detail. However, I think the use of my vivid detail has come a long way. The use of vivid detail can help to enrich your paper and give the readers more of a visual as they read it. I really enjoyed writing my personal narrative as it brought back good memories with my family and friends that will never be forgotten. I am excited to complete the final draft of my personal narrative. I feel like I have worked very hard on this piece of writing and I have never written anything like this before. Also, I am a little bit nervous about correct punctuation in my writing. I have never been good at placing commas in the correct places, so I will have to work hard on the grammar portion of my essay.

Q1: Week 5 Dialogue

Mrs. Russell is a teacher at Blue Valley High School. She is in New York with a group of students on a school sponsored trip. She loses her way while trying to get to the Natural Museum of History and approaches one of the vendors on the street to ask for directions. "Excuse me sir", said Mrs. Russell. "I hate to bother you, but could you please tell me how to get to the natural museum of history?" "Looks like you have a big group with you, the museum is on 79th and you are at 43rd", said the vendor. "So we are many many blocks away right? Will it be to challenging for the group to walk there?" asks Mrs. Russell. The vendor replied, "You can definitely walk there but when you get to Central Park you will need to cross it because the museum is on the West side and you are on the East side. You could also take the subway to 79th and then just cross over Central Park." "Where is the nearest subway station?", Mrs. Russ

Grace Scott - Dear 13 Year Old  Ellie Sim- Dear Seven Year Old...

Dear 12 Year Old

Dear 11 year old, You are currently in the sixth grade, although, don't take advantage of it! Even though you might have some "easy" classes and may not feel like you need to study or work hard... please work hard! This will help to prepare you for high school when your grades really matter towards your future college goals. Ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades are very important years and you want to go into those years as prepared as possible. At times, you might think sixth grade is stressful,  but just wait. Enjoy not having exams while you can. Exams can make you feel very stressed and anxious but if you study and keep up during the year,  then exams should be manageable for you. Finally, just make sure to enjoy sixth grade, because school will only get harder and more intense year after year.

Check.Mate?

Check.Mate? is a story that has a very well-written lesson that you should always keep in mind. This lesson teaches you that trying your best is what matters most. Throughout this story, the dad constantly beats his son at playing chess and the son really wanted to be able to beat his dad at the game. The son tries his best to beat his dad at chess in Check.Mate?. After  lots of practice and thinking hard about it, he still can't beat his dad. The son describes his relationship with his father as "We were close, but only on his terms". This tells us that the dad might have pushed his son to become a better person, so that's why the son was so determined to beat his dad. Although, as the story starts to come to an end, the father-son relationship changes. The dad gives his son a smile that says "I love you", which means a great deal to him.

Muskaan- Hurricane Katrina Naya- Hurricane Katrina

Q1: Week 3- Hurricane Katrina

Hurricane Katrina was one of the top five most destructive, harmful, and costly hurricanes to hit the United States. This hurricane was a category 5 which meant it had the most forceful winds. Katrina cost the United States about $108 billion dollars and killed over 1,800 people. The hurricane traveled from southeastern to central Bahamas, then when it first made landfall it was in southeastern Florida as a category 1 hurricane. Katrina transitioned to a category 5 hurricane when it went into the Gulf of Mexico. When Katrina made landfall in southeastern Louisiana and then once again along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, its intensity lowered to a category 3 hurricane. New Orleans was left with massive damage from Hurricane Katrina due to breaks in the levee separating New Orleans from Lake Pontchartrain. By August 31st, when the hurricane was coming to an end, New Orleans was left almost completely under water by about 80%. The highest surge from Katrina was near Bay St. Louis, MS. Also

Q1: Week 3- Current Outside Reading Book Response

My current outside reading book is Counting By 7's by Holly Goldberg Sloan. This book has very vivid detail in describing what the characters appear to look like. When reading this book, you get the most detail about Willow. Willow is the main character in Counting By 7's and the book is told in first person by her. This book demonstrates the feelings that a person could feel in many situations, such as on the first day of school, feeling different from everyone else, or feeling scared in a crisis. As I read Counting By 7's , I can feel the same emotions as Willow is feeling. These emotions are when she is nervous for the first day starting at a new school, or when she is upset and calls home "sick" from school. The author uses such good figurative language and personification to make this happen. Counting By 7's is very structured, and it goes through each step in order explaining the feelings, emotions, and details of the scene very vividly. This can have
