Q1: Week 3- Hurricane Katrina

Hurricane Katrina was one of the top five most destructive, harmful, and costly hurricanes to hit the United States. This hurricane was a category 5 which meant it had the most forceful winds. Katrina cost the United States about $108 billion dollars and killed over 1,800 people. The hurricane traveled from southeastern to central Bahamas, then when it first made landfall it was in southeastern Florida as a category 1 hurricane. Katrina transitioned to a category 5 hurricane when it went into the Gulf of Mexico. When Katrina made landfall in southeastern Louisiana and then once again along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, its intensity lowered to a category 3 hurricane. New Orleans was left with massive damage from Hurricane Katrina due to breaks in the levee separating New Orleans from Lake Pontchartrain. By August 31st, when the hurricane was coming to an end, New Orleans was left almost completely under water by about 80%. The highest surge from Katrina was near Bay St. Louis, MS. Also...

Q1:Week 2 My Story

I am standing on the beach with my two dogs, Bella and Roxie, and my sister getting ready to take family pictures. As the photographer approaches,  we start to take the leashes and collars off of Bella and Roxie. The whole time I am taking Bella's collar off I am thinking to myself, " I know she is going to run away any minute" and "I really hope she does not spot a bird". My sister and I begin to sit down with our dogs sitting next to us, when to our dismay Bella sets her eyes on a bird flying above us. As I am reaching my hand to get a hold of her, I am a  moment to late. Bella has taken off. I stand up and start chasing after her while everyone else is shouting her name. All I can hear is faint noises and all I am hoping for is the bird will change directions and start flying back to the photographer and my sister. Q1: Week 7 short story

Kate has been waiting for this day for five years. Her parents promised her that when she was fifteen, she could fly by herself to the summer camp she attended every year since she was eight years old. Her parents anxiously waited with her at the gate to board her plane. Kate was not nervous at all. She had one lay over before meeting her camp counselor at her final destination.  Kate landed in Atlanta and was so excited to be one step closer to getting to the counselors and the camp that she loved so much. She checked the screens for her connecting flight information and headed to the gate for Asheville, North Carolina. She got to the gate and waited and must have missed an announcement that her flight had been moved to another gate. She boarded the plane not knowing what had happened and was soon on her way to Orlando, Florida. She had not realized what had happened until she heard the pilot say "Welcome to Orlando folks."
